Bayyinah and AlMaghrib Got Married!

Alhamdulillah, I’m proud to announce that Bayyinah and AlMaghrib have officially joined hands! Many of you probably heard the announcement at TDC, but I wanted to expand a little more on what this means for both organizations, the following is a Fact Sheet I’ve created for the purpose of informing people about the partnership:

THE NEW MARRIAGE BETWEEN BAYYINAH AND ALMAGHRIB INSTITUTE

Overview:

Carrying forward the vision of providing the best Islamic education available in the West, Bayyinah and the AlMaghrib Institute have finally joined hands!

Students from all over North America and the UK will finally be a step closer to getting their bachelors degree in Islamic studies, without having to cross any oceans.

What this all means:

  • Bayyinah offers high quality Arabic education, with a special emphasis on the Qur’an. Those students who take Bayyinah classes will not only learn the fundamentals of Arabic, but those who excel will be able to understand the language of the Qur’an in a whole new way.
  • The AlMaghrib Institute offers students the chance to earn their bachelors degree in Islamic studies. To earn this degree a student must:
    • Memorize a portion of the Holy Qur’an
    • Complete 90 mandatory credit hours*
    • Complete 20 Electives credit hours
    • Complete 18 Arabic credit hours

  • This means that those students who wish to earn their degree with the AlMaghrib Institute must complete at least 18 hours of Arabic, which will be offered by Bayyinah*.
  • The Arabic classes will be conducted in cities in which AlMaghrib seminars are regularly conducted, insha’Allah.
  • Bayyinah classes will be run and managed by the Bayyinah Institute and will not be run under the qabeelah system.

*See almaghrib.org for more details on accreditation requirements

I’m definitely really excited about this partnership, you all should be very excited. Especially since we will be launching our new class “Divine Speech: Literary Characterisitics of the Qur’an” in 2009 in your city or a city by you.

Now, if you love the Bayyinah instructors, or if you’ve never had the privilage of attending a Bayyinah seminar, inshaAllah we’d like to give you a taste of the beauty of Arabic.

In order to get EXCLUSIVE videos from Bayyinah, you can only access them through this website:

Once you put your name and email, everday for about two weeks you will be able to access our exclusive videos, including Br. Nouman’s take on the 10 FAQ of Arabic.

This is for your benefit inshaAllah, so take advantage of it!

    Jzk for posting this.

The thing that I don’t understand is:

” * Bayyinah classes will be run and managed by the Bayyinah Institute and will not be run under the qabeelah system.”

What’s the benefit of joining hands with AlMaghrib then? The Bayyinah classes are conducted in most AlMaghrib cities anyway (I think Ottawa/Montreal/Calgary are the only exceptions). I don’t understand how this will bring anything new to the table for Bayyinah or AlMaghrib, besides a little more marketing for Bayyinah.

  2. shirien Says:

The reason for this, is because it adds a lot of extra work and planning for the umara’ and volunteers who already have to manage 5-6 classes a year.

The main part of this agreement focuses on the accreditation process and cross-promotion, inshaAllah

  3. aarij Says:

So it’s not a real marriage then. Because AlMaghrib’s strength is from its qabeelah system.

For example, we had a Bayyinah class here in TO with about 100 people. It was poorly marketed, but if done right we might have gotten 200-250 people. If that class was organized and marketed as AlMaghrib, we would get 400-500 people.

In sha Allah though, it’ll help Bayyinah grow.

  4. shirien Says:

That’s because there was hardly any Marketing structure available, I’m in the process of setting that up right now. Understand that before I was hired for this job, it was one person doing EVERYTHING, more than he can handle subhanallah.

IshaAllah there is going to be a much more strategic way of marketing soon. We don’t need the Qabeelah system in order to market Bayyinah.

How did AlMaghrib market themselves before they were well known?

We are a different institute than AlMaghrib, with it’s own management and instructors. We have a partnership but that only effects certain aspects of logistics.

Br. Aarij, I deleted your last comment, not out disagreement or anything, but merely because all of that should be discussed in the marketing forum that we’ve created for this purpose. InshaAllah all of what you said in your post is underwraps, but the area I need help in the most is online marketing.

Anyway, check your email, and inshaAllah, just be patient in a couple of days many things will be outlined within our group.

I want to keep all those discussions private and it is inshaAllah going to be an amanah among everyone involved to keep what is said there within the group and not revealed to everyone.

Jazak Allah khair for understanding, inshaAllah.
