Shereen! I been trying to contact u. Its Amna from LA, I wanted to join Bayyinah and have questions about it. Do u still work for them? Dude, help me out. I been trying to reach them, but I have no clue why it hasn’t been working! PLZ HELP
Mashallah loveeeeeed Abdullah’s theme song intro looool it had me n my daughters in stitches, my 1yr old keeps wanting to replay it lol, hope we see more of him Inshallah JAK
I find the name “Ghetto Abdullah” highly offensive. Being raised in the ghetto myself, I don’t appreciate you enforcing stereotypes of all people in the ghetto being somehow less refined and dressing sloppy. It’s quite disappointing coming from you. You need to think this through some more.
@ghetto girl, I appreciate your honesty in your comment. I myself have grown up for 22 years in the south so I’ve gone to school with a wide-range of people. My Middle-school was the definition of ghetto.
In any case, The only thing Ghetto About “Ghetto Abdullah” is how sloppily I made him. It may sound offensive to you, but is that not one of the ways everyone uses the term ghetto? Urbandictionary.com seems to say so as well:
“(adj.) jury-rigged, improvised, or home-made (usually with extremely cheap or sub-standard components)”
assalam u alaikum,
The video you guys made is great. I have two children (2 and 1) and they LOVE it! They are also big fans of Adam’s world and it was nice to see a nice islamic kids video. I am always trying to find something for my kids that will be entertaining as well as educational. As soon as I play the video, my one year old comes running after hearing the theme song. Also, the incorporation of animals was a good idea as every kid LOVES them!
Although the puppet is a little rough at the edges, I don’t think young kids really care, but maybe older kids might. All in all I think it is a very good start and inshallah may Allah help you and your husband in your future endeavors.
Also, I don’t know if this is just my daughter or not, but when shows show someone acting with “bad manners” like Abdullah towards his cat, I think young children don’t understand that it is bad and they sometimes imitate it, so I feel it is important that it is immediately addressed in the video that it is the improper way of acting. This happens when she watches sesame street or other videos because this is not done, but I explain to her later that those were “bad manners”
@ Saadia, Jazaki Allah khair your words really made my husband and I very happy. We’ve got a couple of comments about the “bad behavior” and kids imitating it before they get to the end, and we’ve noted that concern inshaAllah and we’ll try to avoid that in future episodes. However, we also decided that we might put a disclaimer “Some content may not be suitable for children under 5?”
Wallahu alem.
Our next episode should be just fine for those under 5 though inshaAllah.
