As salaamu alaikum,
Masha’Allah Ukhti. May Allah continue to bless you with much success and many more ideas that will bring benefit to the ummah! Ameen. How are you publishing your book? Through lulu? Or an actual publication?
Are you interested in doing a Spanish version? If you are, I will happily translate your book for you! I have written Islamic children’s books in Spanish myself, and illustrated them, as well, but no one is willing to publish because they think the demand is not that great. But the demand actually is pretty high, I know Muslims in Spanish-speaking countries who can’t even find Islamic children’s books in Spanish!
Anyhow, feel free to contact me if you are interested in publishing your work in Spanish too. Think of all the little Spanish-speaking Muslim children who will benefit (as well as Spanish-speaking Muslim parents like me!!!)
Take care. Congratulations, again. BarakAllahu feekum.
Your sister,
Wendy

MashAllah, may Allah reward you for your efforts and grant you success. We really need Muslim media and literature for kids that will counter all the negative influences they’re exposed to from other sources. But why are the sisters in the illustrations not covering all their hair? I’m talking about the bangs sticking out, not only for the child but her mom. This is already a problem in the community and we shouldn’t be teaching kids that it is OK right?
BarakAllahu feekum.

Salaamu alaikum,
Let me know, insha’Allah! If u have facebook, can u add me?
About Ammar’s comment, I didn’t even notice until he pointed it out, good call on both mom and daughter, even though she’s a little girl, she still needs to show how to put the hijab on properly. BarakAllahu feekum!

looks very nice mashaAllah!! InshaAllah the kids will enjoy it! I have one question though, and please correct me if im wrong, but isnt there a ruling on image makers? Would this fall into category of drawing faces…. ? AllahuAlam. Please clarify.

Walaikumsalaam,
Great work masha’Allah! Am too excited and can’t wait to see the final product insha’Allah!!!
I was going to ask the exact same question Ammar asked =)
Also, the characters didn’t seem to have noses which made me wonder if that was done on purpose? So as to not make an actual image of humans?
Again, great work masha’Allah and may Allah put immense barakah in your efforts, Ameen! =)

@wendy inshaAllah ill add u
. About the little girl, I had already asked my illustrator to do like 100 different adjustments, so the mom’s hijab was the last one. The age range for my book is between 3 and 8, and “aliyah” in the book is only in first grade, so I didn’t think it was that big a deal that a little hair is showing, especially since it’s not wajib upon her yet
.
@muslim, jazaki Allah khair for your kind words and concern. I, too, was concerned about this so I asked a very respected sheikh as well as did a little research on this and I was told that the shariah is lax when it comes to children, so long as they benefit. So inshaAllah its my sincere intention kids benefit from my book.
I don’t know if it makes a difference or not but I’ve asked the illustrator to remove some features of the face and body so that it doesn’t resemble what a human is normally born with (I.e. removed the nose, four fingers, etc)
Again, I don’t know if that makes a difference, wallahu alem, I’m trying to stay on the safe side.

The nose was left out on purpose, for that reason

Salam alaikum,

Assalamualikum,
May Allah accept our good deeds and reward our good efforts, aamin.
Brother, just a small suggestion to change the usage of left hand to right hand, as you would know that the prophet (peace be upon him) always used his right hand for good things. And nowadays most of our muslim brothers and sisters use the left hand and don’t even realize the importance of it. (The mom is waving her left hand to the child in the image above)
JazakAllahu khairan wa barakAllahu feekum.
Wassalam!
AlBaraa Says: 09.06.10 at 1:17 pm
I love reading the comments here. Jazakallahu khairun for all the support and suggests.
@Faisal –
Just a correction – the writer of the post is a sister – my wife
Also, is someone waving with their left hand (suppose they’re lefty) really a bad thing? Just asking.
We’re all humans. Things don’t have to be perfect, they just have to get going.
If some of these details would affect the message of the book and the overall affect we want to have on kids and their parents, we’d make the changes. Keep in mind, the illustrator had already put in over 100 hrs into making the illustration.
Small details corrections such as these would only add unnecessary work to the people involved and decrease the bottom line which will inheriently fuel the project further.

Salam alaikum,
I posted before but it seems worthwhile to post again. I saw the video that was posted later about the book. Mashallah, the cartoonist and the script writer seem to have done a wonderful job. Such books are greatly in need. For my brothers and sisters who are concerned about the sunnah and details that have been inadvertently missed, please remember that this is a new venture and as such will have its share of quirks. Editing such small flaws requires a huge amount of effort. On our part, we can support such projects by buying their products and thus encouraging the creators to build upon their efforts with better/revised material. Inshallah, they share our concern for providing Islamic books and illustrations that reflect Islamic values. May Allah reward them for their efforts in the way that only He can.
