Well, I’m on my last vacation here in Egypt before I leave back to Louisiana. I’m here for two weeks, and If I seem a little MIA these days it’s because I’m relaxing here in Marina. It’s truly one of the most beautiful places on this earth, MashaAllah, la qowwita illa billah.
The key to surviving in Marina if you’re somewhat religious is to go out at awkward times of day. So you should go out after fajr to about 12 pm then maybe again before maghrib time.
Anyway, below are some pictures. I have my tripod here so i’ll try to get more professional shots soon. I have video also but for some reason Egypt and YouTube uploading don’t get along, so inshaAllah when i get back to the states I’ll post the videos. Enjoy!

Stumble it!

marina full of fitna tho.. isnt it?
Last time i went there was in 03 and that was the first time i saw 2 piece bikini in egypt..
The place is nice tho.. no doubt.. a few things to notice … its expensive, rich people only hang out there (if you are not rich you will sooo feel outta of place), major haram takes place at night (dancin, clubin, drinking, smoking ~ drugs that is~, etc) …
I honestly think marrsa matroo7 will do the same trick for me with less fitna.. but that is just me … Dont get me wrong.. this spot is AAAMAZING mashaAllah.. just not for single brozers…

TATA, (I’m guessing that’s short for something…)
Yes, subhanallah everything you said is true. But there are ways to avoid the fitnah over there… my guide to surviving in marina:
1. go out after fajr.. there is literally no one out after fajr… they all go to sleep at that time.
2. if your a brother go swimming in the “buhaira” the lakes (of sea water…just as good as the bahr.. and just as beautiful)– most people go swimming in the ocean at the various sha’ti’s they have.. but no one goes swimming in the buhairahs.. but it’s amazing..
3. if you’re a sister go to the “women only beach” alhamdulillah thats the great thing about a Muslim country is that they accomodate for hijabis and they litterally did the beach in a secluded area, blocked it off with two very long and far apart walls so one who passes by can see.. (it’s really secure, alhamdulillah)
4. go to the other really amazing places in marina that ARENT crowded at night.. porto marina is crazy at night.. althoguh it’s all family oriented there is still music..
But you are very right about the “rich people” issue. It’s really pretty sad. I think that’s part of the reason I love going though.. is because it’s kind of humbling to me. To disassociate myself from that.. and to see the stark difference between the people. sure, My family in masr is well off, alhamdulillah but i guess because i have the american part of me .. i completely dont see myself as that crowd..
there are parts of marina (in the back) where you see villas like you’ve never seen before. one of them was owned by a saudi prince. it’s amazing to see them.. but in the end you have to feel bad.. you feel bad that these people are disassociating themselves from the rest of the “real world” with all the poverty.
Marina is completely different than any other place in egypt.. you dont see poverty there.
ok you know what this calls for another blog post..
