Muslims Follow Obama Like Mindless Sheep
|
|
I’ve never seen such dedicated love to an evil person.
Last Tuesday, Muslims went into elections booths justifying their vote by saying their intention is to go out and pick the “lesser of the two evils.” Alhamdulillah, there is nothing wrong with the intention. And It’s pretty apparent Obama is the lesser of the evils and a McCain administration would have probably been horrible fate for Muslims. But even if that’s the case, it does not absolve Obama from the status of evil (even if it is lesser.)
People’s intentions were not reflected by their actions. The intention went from picking the lesser of the evil to becoming a huge fan of the candidate as if he were their idol.
After Obama had been announced the winner, people were so excited as if he was going to be the best thing that happened to the Muslims. I heard Muslims saying slogans like “Barack Mubarack” and “Ba-Rocked the Vote!”
The question is, why are Muslims so happy with a man who does not want to be associated with us at all? What about the “Muslim Smear?” What about the hijabi woman who was removed from one of his rallies?
Honestly, we’re very naive. It’s like an abusive father who hits his children. The child thinks that because the father say he won’t hit him anymore, he’s safe now. But afterward, the child learns of how naive it was trust a man who gave no reason to believe that he would actually be different.
Muslims were of the belief that Obama HAS to praise Israel in order to win the election (which is true.) And after he’s elected president, he’s going to be on the Muslim’s side. How much more obvious can it be that this is NOT TRUE. After all, look at the first thing he did after being elected; he picked a Zionist for his Chief of Staff.
Muslims are humiliating themselves while the world watches. It’s like one of those instances where a person is doing something so embarrassing that no one has the guts to tell the person they are making a fool of themselves. Like a girl walking with toilet paper on her shoe. For those of us who went all Obama crazy, we’re the ones with the toilet paper stuck to our shoes.
I can’t help but cringe at the sheep-like behavior coming from us. As much as we’d like to think that we are different and cannot be brainwashed by media, It saddens me to break the news that if we were of the ones that displayed campaign-crazed behavior, we in essence were brainwashed because followed the herd; we became like the mindless sheep the media wanted us to become.
Persuasion is best done when it is seamless, and Barack Obama had all elements to a successful persuasive campaign. After all, no one can deny he is charismatic; he is the “rock star.”
And let me just say the media is very manipulative.
If anything at all we should look at this from a historical perspective, and nothing more. No one can deny that this is a big step for human rights. And as Muslims, we should be very happy with the progress made.
Be the Black sheep.
Wallahu alem.

I mentioned this before and i’ll say it here again: the only reason I’m happy (actually very happy) is because of the historical perspective of him winning. I think it’s absolutely awesome for him to win this election coming from his background, wow!
As for him benefiting the Muslims…he’s just like any other politician and I don’t expect any help from him, nor will I be surprised if he pulls something against the Muslims.
Allah knows best.

the historical aspect is HUGE. subhanAllah i would just love to see the faces of MLK, DuBois, Douglass, et.al right now – to have all their work culminate to this; this is long overdue. it also sends a tremendous message to the world, and honestly muslims should take a lesson from it – seeing as we’re so torn apart by racism/nationalism from within.
on the political realm, can we say clinton era? but whatever, muslims shouldn’t even depend on others to bring change to them – that’s the real naiveté, if you ask me.
on a last note, i think we need to just get past the whole “omg yo voted” bit (coz face it – it’s done, and we could go in circles about it; besides, they’ll learn for themselves once they see how much their candidate lives up to his ‘promises’; allahu’alam) and start building our own communities, enrich our muslim youth with visions for the ummah and the world as a whole. basically, when are we gonna make our own history so we don’t have to be at the mercy of others makin it for us?
MR Says: 08.11.08 at 9:06 am
We’re also Americans after we’re Muslims, just like the sahabas were Muslims and then Arabs.
Read Sh. Yasir Qadhi and Imam Zaid Shakirs article on the importance of Barack Obama’s historical victory.
After all, everything is the will of Allah (swt). Allah willed Barack to win and so he won.

Assalamu alaikum,
It’s good to see a few “sane” voices among the mindless sheep. You know what I didn’t get is that voting in a Kufri system is allowed as the lesser of two evils if the person will definitely bring some maslaha (which in itself is questionable when it comes to Obama), but how on earth and why should we actually feel over joyed about choosing a lesser “evil”. The most one should pray to Allah that this lesser evil doesn’t becom greater evil- and not adulate it like an idol
Thanks for this post

What do you know about Rahm Emanuel?
Like it or not, he is known to be the BEST person to get things done in Washington.
If I was a good President, and had a choice between an influential bad guy or an average good guy, I would most certainly choose the influential bad guy. Either he works for me or he will work against me. I would be able to use him for my advantage.
Please keep the negativity to yourselves. You are the sheep that are being influenced by fear mongering.
shirien Says: 09.11.08 at 9:12 am
Dude,
Are you serious? how could any Muslim think he’s the best person he could choose?
Us being influenced by fear mongering? subhanallah, I think we are the least influenced by fear mongering. We’re influenced by a little thing called “reality”
Yes, Islamically we should remain hopeful, but we shouldnt be naive and be deceived either. And in fact I think we should be very skeptical of Non-Muslim leaders.
Really, I am the black sheep.
dude Says: 10.11.08 at 4:04 am
Sorry you are not influenced by fear mongering, you ARE fear mongering.
The Prophet (pbuh) had good relations with non-Muslim leaders.
I agree we shouldn’t be naive but people do have the right to feel a sense of joy. Millions of Americans voted for a man who was raised as a Muslim till age 12, his middle name is Hussain and his first name rhymes with Osama.
Whether he will be a good leader or bad, no one can tell at the moment. Even though he’s Christian, Muslims are more accepted in American society and his victory is a clear reflection of that.
And that is exciting!
shirien Says: 10.11.08 at 5:02 am
Raised as a Muslim till age 12?

“first name rhymes with Osama.”
Right, and my mom’s name rhymes with Bamya. and that matters because….?

Obama, ofcourse, is rallying with Israel (How can you become president and not?)
Obama is pretty much trying to get himself out of the picture of Islam as much as he can…
At this point, let’s hope he takes the troops out of Iraq, fixes of economic situation, and restores other aspects of the America we knew before the Bush administration.
May Allah (SWT) benefit us through Barack Obama and save us from his wrongdoings. Ameen

I have addressed most of ur criticisms (the muslim smear, criticisms of being anti-Muslim, removing the hijabi sisters from behind one of his stages).
Please do not spread inaccuracies about Obama – otherwise you are no different than the ‘manipulative media’ you speak of.
shirien Says: 11.11.08 at 4:47 am
With all due respect, I disagree with you.
What do we know about Guantanamo Bay? So he’s going to close the camp inshaAllah, (and alhamdulillah for that) but do we think that he’s just going to release all the prisoners? most of them will be tried under an unjust war court and will probably STILL remain behind bars for the rest of their lives (inshaAllah may Allah release them and give them justice in both worlds) but really people need to stop kissing politicians butts and stop thinking that they are these righteous people.
Again, just because we voted for the lesser of the evils doesn’t mean he doesn’t have evil at all inside of him (wallahu alem)
And do we (Muslims) honestly think there are no other Guantanamo bay’s around the world? please. Go look at Abu Ghuraib. And those are just the ones we KNOW of.
Just because Obama is president doesn’t mean he can do whatever he wants. There are check and balances within government; meaning, most likely, anything majorly drastic in support of Muslims will most likely be condemned and opposed by the majority of congress and the senate.
InshaAllah, like we said, we can remain hopeful– and no one knows really what will happen, but seriously people stop being blind-followers.
All we know is what the media reports. The media is liberal and everyone knows that– which is a huge reason why the fascination and the celebrity status of Obama is the way it is. The most of what you get is sound bites, a couple of interviews here and there. we dont know 1% what really goes on.
The whole time I’m watching reports on CNN, MSNBC (which is now the completely opposite of fox news), all I could think about was this manipulative way they try to make Obama into a “rock-star.” Sure he is charismatic, but honestly without the media bombarding us with these statements and this underlying love for him, majority of the people would not be so obsessed with him. They even got me to think he’s very charasmatic and looks like he’s a really decent guy. I’m not saying he’s not… I’m just saying this fascination has gone too far.. Muslims look up to him just like they would a basketball player. And they feel more love and fascination with him, than they do the sahabah!!!
Finally, I want to reiterate, we don’t know what’s in his heart. I will never say there is no way he is a Muslim or every will become a Muslim. But I take things at face value and not just wishful thinking.
And We should remain hopeful as Muslims. But to be honest since when do we take non-Muslims as our close allies/friends and that be OK?
Muslims have gone too far with their Obama fascination. They should be happy of the progress of racism, and remain hopeful, but the second we start jumping for joy and feel like this is the best thing to happen to the Muslims and that everything is going to be OK, that’s when we know we’ve gone too far.
We should put our trust in Allah, not some man.
If Allah is going to give us victory or give us ease through these hardships he can do it in any manner he pleases and by any person he pleases (Muslim or non-Muslim.)
So we should stop the craze stop being naive, sit back and watch what unfolds and of course do what we can to bring justice to mankind.
wallahu alem.
shirien Says: 11.11.08 at 4:54 am
also with all due respect, there is a HUGE difference between Obama and An-Najashi.
Sure we’ll see how things unfold, but let’s not forget he’s still in support of the patriot act (perhaps making changes to it, but still taking away our basic rights).
Wants to invade Pakistan if it becomes necessary in the process of seeking out ONE man- Osama bin Laden.
That’s not justice to me.
An-Najashi was a just ruler, who wallahu alem some scholars say later embrassed Islam.
I’m not going to yell and cheer and be gleefully happy over a man who cannot give people their basic rights and liberties.
InshaAllah may Allah guide him to the truth and may Allah make him just with people. ameen.

I still proved wrong your anti-Muslim attacks against President Elect Obama. Yet you still have no problem having your statements about that posted in this post. Who is being naive now?
ALL of the hard working lawyers working to defend the innocent Muslims in secret prisons (the ones we know of ) have overwhelmingly endorsed Barack Obama. I am sure they know much more of the atrocities being committed against innocent Muslims than either you or I do.
And whats this you are talking about Obama wanting to to invade pakistan because of one man?
are u kidding me?
Do you have any idea of what has been going on in pakistan for over the past year?
Do you have any idea what kind of joke government they have? Do you have any idea how pathetic Zardari is?
There have been over 20 terrorist attacks in Pakistan killing over 1200 people over the past two years. Any attempt to stabilize the region would not be just to catch ONE man.
I do not support the bombing of anyplace, or any means of modern-day warfare, let alone attacking Pakistan (most of my family is from the NWFP region) – but please dont dumb down the chaos in Pakistan to being just a hunt for Bin Laden!
I would urge readers of this post to learn the facts for themselves from primary sources before following the opinions of bloggers (including myself) who do not know the facts.

Being a “desi” myself, one thing people need to know is that – we’ve had politcal warfare ever since the British left us. It was always about Party A fighting/killing someone from Party B. Now this modern world wants to blame everything on “terrorists”. Even if some bigot Non-Muslim has diarrhoea, if he could, he would say “the izzzlamists put something in my hamburger”! Things really have literally reached this ridiculous point! There has always been a khawarij-like trend among many of our people. If anything goes wrong, some nuts would form small groups here and there and rise to overthrow the government. But anyways we must submit to the West and blame everything against the “terrorists”. Alirght terrorist it is.
Muslim Creed Says: 11.11.08 at 6:16 am
The weirdest thing about all this is how we Muslims curse our own MUSLIM leaders as if they’re animals but flock behind a man who supports gays and worse than that says Allah has a son.
When you stand behind someone, it means you support what he does. How can you answer Allah on the Day of Judgment and tell Allah “oh Allah i ‘called’ people towards a man who said you have a son and also supports gays”?
This is why Sh.Albani said – if there is dharoorah (i.e. dire need) vote for the lesser evil but do not forget he is still evil! (which is what this blogger has been trying to point out since yesterday!) [silsilatul hudaa wan noor tape # 220]
Sh.’Uthaymeen said – the non-muslim must provide in writing (i.e. a treaty) promising rights to the muslims if they vote for him and that way you will be supporting him only because of that promise and will be free from Allah’s questioning. [if i remember correctly this is from liqaa'at al baab al-maftooh]
This country has always been based on WASP (white anglo-saxon protestant)…the only non-masonic or non-protestant president was Kennedy (a catholic) who mind you didn’t even make it through his first term!
Yes it is a great achievment that Obama became president even though he is a Protestant, simply because he is Black..well actually half- black…half-white (whichever way makes the white supremcists happy!)
Let’s see how hispanics and afro-americans get equality now that a minority will be in charge. Schools in minority neighborhoods were left with rat droppings in the cafeteria while rich white areas even had latestcomputers and books!
The reason why I gave these examples which every American knows DOES exist is so that you Muslim youth who are born and raised here don’t forget what you learned in History/Government/Polical Science/etc classes. Stop jumping up and down that the fate of Muslims will change just because Obama Bin Laden…oops sorry! I meant to say Obama Biden…became president.
People who are Christians, whose ancestors worked as slaves, living here for hundreds of years still don’t have equal rights. Let him work on that. We the Muslims, are waaaaaayyy down the list.
In the meantime, here’s a suggestion for myself and everyone else – focus on Tawheed & the Sunnah and Allah will surely make a way out for us.
Don’t let Shaytaan distract you from this thinking wow we’re all saved and don’t have to follow the Sunnah anymore.
May Allah guide all of us and keep all of us safe.

There are kinder ways to get your point across, just follow the sunnah.

In the past you’ve made comments (all of which were cowardly anonymous) that really served no real good reason for being on my blog except for the fact that you were trying to be jerkish.
I remember why I moderated you. and let me just say, you’ve inspired me to dedicate a whole post about commentators.
“Why some commentators can’t hold intellectual conversations, and should stay quiet because they only make fools of themselves”
The perfect example of this was on Sheikh Anwar AlAwlaki’s blog.
I’ll be the first to admit I don’t agree with everything he teaches, I love his seerah and lives of the Prophets lectures.. but he recently made a post about voting… instead of people contributing or intellectually arguing against the sheikh, they said things like: “Nonsense.Obama/Biden ‘08″
or “All those people with the silly comments, you are pathetic!”
I applaud those who tried to have an intellegent conversation/debate..
but Dude, you remind me of the ones who just wanted attention. And that’s obvious from the other comments on my blog.
I dont moderate anyone because they disagree with me. People are welcome to disagree.

All I can give you is naseeha – that you should try to verify information before posting it – because what we write – we are responsible for – towards are readers and towards Allah (swt). and if we misinform others due to our mistakes – that misinformation will be due to us – and ultimately Allah (swt) will hold us accountable for what we say!

shirien Says: 11.11.08 at 12:00 pm
umm, I don’t have “beef” with anyone.
I’m honestly someone who doesn’t care if people disagree with me.
This has everything to do with following the sunnah whether people want to admit it or not. If we knew an iota about Islamic Governance or an iota about the rules and conditions of Muslims living in non-Muslim lands we would wake up.
The truth is, people who know about these things will admit that they go out with the intention of voting for the lesser of evils. People who know nothing will go out being proud as can be to be an American participating in American politics not knowing anything about man made laws vs. shariah.
the whole point of the post was to bring people back to reality and to put things into perspective.
Wallahi African Americans in this country have the right idea. They didn’t trust their own leaders regardless of religion. They were skeptical of what their leaders would do for THEM. They fought and fought and are still fighting to get some sense of righting the wrongs that have been done to them.
Muslims? we sit around kissing the floor these leaders walk on because they have a LINK to Islam somewhere in their family. The question is, “SO WHAT?” why should I be ecstatic over someone who doesn’t even worship Allah alone?
When will we learn that we should also be demanding justice? when will we stop being so weak?
The way we praise these leaders is pathetic and weak.
Instead of praising them, make dua for them. Instead of acting all fan-like and star-struck, thank them for the good they’ve done, and demand that they change their injustices.
Islam is the middle ground. We shouldnt be extreme on either end, which is the reason I posted this to begin with.
I noticed Muslims going to a degree of extreme in their love and praise and excitement over him, and I wrote about it as a reminder to put things into perspective.

I do not have beef with anyone either.
All i intended to do was to show how Barack Obama was not anti-Muslim. it is dangerous to dispel such rumors about him.
There is nothing wrong with criticizing one another based on real issues. But all i ask is that arguments be based on the truth.
And I wholeheartedly agree. We should study the issues regarding Muslims living in Non-Muslim lands and the rules surrounding it. Shaykh Abdullah Bin Bayyah has a great CD set on it, and Shaykh Abdal Hakim Jackson has written several articles on it. (like this one: http://www.ispi-usa.org/policy/policy4.html)
Anyways i do not want to ‘argue’ with you. You have stated your opinions in this post – and I have stated my opinions (along with facts/sources) in my post. Muslim Creed Says: 12.11.08 at 6:28 am
I can only hope that Allah does not put us in more trouble like last time.
Sad to say, in 2000, even “scholars” in America were giving khutbahs why people should vote for Bush and not Al Gore. Al Gore had Joe Lieberman the Jew for VP. The same Muslims who were standing outside the Masaajid calling people to vote for Bush and not the Jew VP, and then jumping from joy after Bush’s victory, were the same Muslims who within a few months started crying.
We all act based on emotions/opinions and not Deen.
If people were not turning away from the Sunnah..or failing to completely understand Tawheed…wouldn’t there be something called Al-Wala’ wal Bara’ (loving & hating for only Allah’s Sake) in our hearts?
And that is the whole point that Muslims simply do not want to pay attention to.
Just like the sister said – Instead of praising them, make dua for them. Instead of acting all fan-like and star-struck, thank them for the good they’ve done, and demand that they change their injustices. -
Rather than calling others to Ahlush Shirk, make dua to Allah that this man be Just with all of Allah’s creation. Doing something in secret is much better than openly going out and “calling others” to it…if it is a sin or a doubtful matter. We need to realize that.
Obama’s job, first, is to try and improve the economy and the economy of a country will never improve when it is in a war. Hopefully he realizes that. Stopping the war would mean a lot for me as a Muslim…I don’t care paying $4 gas but I will atleast sleep in peace that my innocent brothers are not being killed and my sisters are not being raped by these invaders.
As for Muslim issues within the country. What candidate promised anything?? I remember back in Austin, TX…every morning when I went to class, I had to see men wearing bra (gays) jogging, but these same people who allow men to dress like women cause trouble for a Muslim woman wearing Jilbaab at the work place. Why these double standards?
Which candidate promised that he will make easy access for a Sheikh/Da’ee to come and explain what Islam really is and hence help in decreasing the islamophobia.
Do I still have to see a Jew named Wolf giving his “expert” views on Islam everytime I turn on the TV?
So brothers & sisters before shouting slogans for Ahlus Shirk (i.e. polytheists) be very careful that you have good specific reasons to support him. Otherwise stay away from everything and save yourself from the trouble when you stand before Allah on the Day of Judgment.
Once again I remind everyone why the Scholars said – ask the Non-Muslim to promise in writing what rights he will give to you – no Muslim organization has been able to show any such promise from any candidate but are jumping from joy and calling others to join the fun. May Allah save us from another chaos. Ameen!
Oh yeah I forgot, these Fataawa were issued by Scholars living in the East and not Students living in the West. So maybe they don’t know the situation as well we do living here and hence their Fataawa don’t carry much weight these days…
HasbunAllahu wa ni’mal wakeel.
May Allah bless you for this post and reward you for whatever good you said. May Allah make the “thinkers” among us, think more about the true meaning of Laa ilaaha ill Allah and may Allah give this newly elected president the heart to be fair with everyone.

Muslim Creed… that’s the coookie cutter response to anything these days “follow the sunnah, make dua, so and so scholar said so, therefore you are bad muslims”
What you said is the truth, but i didn’t see any bloggers including my friend Shirien, dedicate a post to make dua for this man. Instead there are reactionary posts…
How can we as a minority feel entitled to have a leader cater specifically to our needs?… we have to earn that and work for it and being accepted in society is a positive sign for our future.

i dont see the need to make a whole post about making dua for him when it can be mentioned in a bigger story.
It’s all about newsworthiness. inshaAllah everyone can learn about the 8 elements of newsworthiness in my upcoming class “media writing 101″
Stay tuned!

How come no independent party candidate made it to the presidential and vp debate rounds in this election?
