Welcome Ramadan! Oh, and “Gustav.”

I often complain about living in Louisiana, after all there are only a few avenues to seek knowledge. But wallahi brothers and sisters one blessing Allah ‘az wa jal has given the Muslims here In Louisiana is the chance to become the Ansaar of Allah.

One week after coming back from Egypt, I’m welcomed by Hurricane Gustav. (Ahh, the genius behind the name “Egyptian Gumbo.”)

The shelves in the grocery stores are empty, people lining up to fill up their gas tanks, and the interstate starting to crowd with cars coming from New Orleans in hope to get out before the storm comes. Stores are even starting to put away the jewelry in a safe place in case of looting.

Every year I’ve been a student at LSU, we’ve always gotten days off the second week of school due to a hurricane — whether it struck or not.

I received calls yesterday asking me if I could help accommodate the sisters that will be coming to our masajid for due to mandatory evacuation in New Orleans. During Katrina, we had over 100 families stay in our small campus masjid.

A solider of Allah is coming, and we ask Allah ‘az wa jal to protect us from his wrath.

It’s truly a humbling experience to be able to help shelter people and tend to their needs. And I’d very much like to share it with the world. So if happens and the hurricane does come to Louisiana, I will try to document the efforts and the needs of the victims so that inshaAllah people will know exactly what is needed in order to help them. And perhaps i’ll try to get people’s personal stories. I can’t promise anything, because 1. We are unsure what the conditions will be like and 2. My priority will inshaAllah be helping people, not filming them — but if I have the opportunity and feel it will be beneficial, inshaAllah I will. — This is, if Allah protects us and averts any destruction from coming our way.

You don’t need a hurricane to help your fellow Muslims and non-Muslims. Ramadan is here, feed those who need food. Become an Ansaari.

May Allah protect us all, and bless us in Ramadan with His mercy and forgiveness. Ameen. Keep us in your dua, inshaAllah.

I ask everyone to please keep us in your dua, subhanallah the conditions here are getting kind of creepy and erie. I live in Baton Rouge which is about an hour from new orleans, and virtually all the streets are empty– people are either at home, evacuated or CROWDING supermarkets for last min. supplies.

I went to LSU today to see if any of the families needed anything, on my way there I saw dozens of ambulances everywhere in preparation for the storm, a lot of military hellicopters and subhanallah it’s just pretty Erie. They say that this might be worse than Katrina, wallahu alem, but it looks like it’ll hit baton rouge more than Katrina did, wallahu alem.

in any case please keep us in your dua, especially with the beginning of Ramadan, Allah saves the first 10 days of Ramadan for His mercy, so we ask Allah ‘az wa jal to bestow His mercy upon us and protect us from his anger and any destruction.

    ameen.

Ramadan Mubarak, wa jazakum Allahu khairun for your dua.

Barak Allahu feekom. Subhanallah it’s very scary. if you look at the map above baton rouge looks like it’s going to be hit by the right wide of the eye, which is the strongest. wallahu alem, wallahul musta’an.

Waking up for suhoor I didnt know what to expect, but apparently the hurricane is lurking off the coast for a while. We were told to expect the power to be down for at least a week. so again, please continue to make dua for us here. As I know as a general rule in journalism, proximity makes people more interested in the story. and While everyone else seems that they may not be affected, it’s easy just to forget or brush it off as not important. We’re human.

Again Ramadan Mubarak everyone, and May Allah make it easy and safe for us all. ameen.

the way the graphic changes baffled me. at first i was like “I know i didnt put up that picture.” but i guess when I “copied image location” from weather.com it changes as the image on their website changes.

Barak Allahu feekom again for your dua. it’s been a very difficult couple of days. We still do not have power and they estimate that it may take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to get it back on. So basically, at least half of Ramadan will be without power, wallahul musta’an.

    Wallahu alem.

    As salamu alaykum,

I pray for all the Muslims in the West Coast America. Subhan’Allah, supposedly there’s a number of hurricanes heading in that direction.

Here in South Wales, UK it’s flood season. Almost every town around my city is submerged in water. Some parts of my city are also flooded. We’re expecting further downpours soon, wa Allahu ‘alim.

Aye, its raining Rahma in Ramadan. Testing times that make us value the blessings Allah azza wa jaal has bestowed us with.

May Allah ta’ala, protect us from the afflictions of this life and the next. Ameen

Subhan’Allah when i read your responses, I’m like subhan’Allah Allah has blessed me. Alhamdulillah.

My little brother was telling me about Wales today, seems like he watches news more than me.

May Allah continue to protect you and keep you safe. Ameen.

Can we ever thank Allah ‘azza wa jall enough though. No we can’t. Subhan’Allah we have so much. Sabr wa Shukar.

Shirien, we’re thinking about you, it’s Ramadan make all the dua you want and don’t forget about us!

Your dua in these days will be like no other. It’s the times when Allah tests us when we really turn to Allah SWT.

Look after yourself and pass my salaams to your family.

    Wasalaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah.
